About the Winery
Quails’ Gate is a family-owned and operated winery located in beautiful West Kelowna. This world class winery was established in 1989 by the Stewart family, who had a long history of farming in the area. The winery’s name, “Quails’ Gate” comes from the large number of quail that can be found roaming around the scenic property.
The winery is situated on 200 acres of land. Being in the Okanagan the weather is often warm, dry, and provides excellent growing conditions for grapes. The property includes a tasting room, restaurant, a state-of-the-art winemaking facility, as well as vineyards that are planted with a variety of grape varietals, including Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. In recognition of its commitment to sustainable farming and winemaking practices, Quails’ Gate Winery has been certified as a sustainable winery by the British Columbia Wine Institute.
Quails’ Gate produces a wide range of wines that are well-regarded by critics and consumers alike. The flagship wine is their Stewart Family Reserve Pinot Noir, a rich, full-bodied red wine that is produced from grapes grown on their oldest vines. The winery also produces a variety of white and rosés, as well as sparkling wines. This is one of our favourite wineries to visit, thanks in part to their wide selection of varieties.
Wine Tasting
The tasting room is open daily from 11:00am to 6:00pm. To ensure availability during peak season, we recommend making a reservation for tastings. Walk-in guests will be accommodated if space is available, but this is not guaranteed. Guests have a choice of three wine tasting options to enjoy. The Estate or Collector Tasting is a great experience for those interested in trying a selection of the winery’s estate-grown wines. The Premium Wine & Cheese Tasting is a perfect pairing for wine lovers looking to sample a selection of the winery’s premium wines alongside specially curated cheeses. For a special treat during colder months, the Winter Feature Tasting is available and includes a delicious desert along with wine tastings. No matter which tasting you choose, you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience here.
Events
In addition to wine tastings and tours, the winery also offers a range of other activities and events. These include live music performances, cooking classes, and wine-themed dinners. We highly recommend taking part in one of their dinners in the vineyards.

The onsite Old Vines Restaurant has a menu that is expertly crafted by a highly-skilled and award-winning culinary team. Old Vines is committed to promoting ocean conservation through our partnership with Ocean Wise and supporting local farmers to provide a true taste of the Okanagan region. Their menu is a reflection of this commitment, featuring both traditional and cutting-edge culinary creations.
