A Local Favourite
Zia’s Stonehouse Restaurant is a charming and intimate dining experience located in the heart of downtown Summerland. The restaurant is known for its rustic and cozy atmosphere, gorgeous stone building, and of course the incredible cuisine. The picturesque stonehouse, officially recognized as an architectural heritage site, was constructed by Alfredo Biagioni in 1916. The building process took five years, with Biagioni personally digging the basement by hand and using his horse, Nelly, to remove the dirt. He also handpicked the stones used in the construction from Garnet Valley. The walls are thick, measuring 18 inches, which helps to regulate the temperature inside and keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Oh ya, did we mention that this place is believed to be haunted?
