About the Winery
In 1999, Elephant Island Winery was established on a family farm, followed by the launch of Naramata Cider Co. in 2017. Both of these ventures reflect the family’s dedication to preserving a diverse agricultural environment in the region, making positive ripples in the industry. The wines and ciders (and now wine spritzers) produced here are crafted using minimal intervention techniques and natural fermentation processes. The fruits used in production are either grown on the property or sourced from farmers whose methods align with their own values and dedication to their craft.
Visiting Elephant Island Winery is a unique and fun experience. The winery is situated on a picturesque hillside overlooking Okanagan Lake, filled with endless rows of lush vineyards, a beautiful tasting area, and welcoming staff to educate you on their award winning wines. You’ll be hard pressed to find a winery that also specializes in both cider and spritzers, so we encourage you to indulge in all three!
Tasting & Picnics
Experience the delicious Elephant Island Wines with one of three tasting options: the Current Release Tasting, a daily offering of four wines for $10, or the Premium Tasting, a selection of four Reserve wines and two current releases for $20, available by appointment on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The tastings are guided by one of their knowledgeable Wine Educators in the picturesque tree-shaded courtyard. Plan accordingly and dress for the weather. Reservations are suggested, but walk-ins are welcome if space is available.
The Farm Tour & Tasting is the top notch experience. Join Assistant Winemaker Lauren on a guided tour of Elephant Island’s cellar and farm. Discover the secrets of barrel aging, cold soaks, and fermentation while sipping on a curated selection of wines that showcase the techniques and terroir behind them. Explore the Peanut Farm, where you’ll find crab apples, apricots, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the bees and chickens. Stay hydrated and informed as you delve into the magic of winemaking.
Elephant Island also offers a “Picnic To Go” in the summertime, which includes a variety of meats, cheese, kellies, and of course best paired with their fine wine! Enjoy it on their property, or take it to one of your favourite viewpoints around the South Okanagan for a special sunset snack!
