The recently opened Bernie’s Supper Club & Cinema joins a variety of restaurants, pubs, and bars along the popular Bernard strip in downtown Kelowna. Named after the street it sits on, Bernie’s set itself apart from any other typical restaurant you’ve been to. Combining a boutique theater with an exceptional dining experience is no easy task, but the folks here have created just that. This is the only place where you can watch a mix of retro and newer release films in an emporium theater, while enjoying a wide variety of high quality food and drinks.
Since opening their doors in the summer of 2022, Bernie’s has quickly become one of the top dinner choices for both locals and tourists. What makes this place so great is their focus on the entire dining and movie experience. The first floor and mezzanine of Bernie’s is where you’ll find incredible food, cocktails, local craft beer, and award winning vino. Come for an artisanal drink or two, pair it with a meal influenced by flavours from around the world, and immerse yourself in the finely crafted ambiance that was made for you to feel welcomed and comfortable. Notice your favourite scenes from classic 90s movies being played on TVs throughout the dining room – a nice little touch that you won’t find anywhere else.
Make your way up to the second floor to arrive at a cinema unmatched by any other. Cozy couch seating, food & drink service, and a movie that brings you back in time – what more could you ask for? Oh, and before you start to wonder, they offer the classic movie theater snacks too!
Menu
Although the theater is a big draw for many, the food & drink is definitely not underappreciated. Chef Justin Best has created a menu that combines flavours from every corner of the globe. The delicious taste, creativity, and passion that goes into each dish is obvious upon your first bite. Asian, Spanish, Mediterranean, and Mexican inspired tastes are just a few of the many that you’ll experience in the dishes here. Of course, these dishes are best complimented by a handmade cocktail, a local craft beer, or a one-of-a-kind wine.
Cinema & Events
The cinema, although primarily used for movie showings, has also been made to host live concerts and shows. For current movie times and features, head to the Show Times page on the Bernie’s website.
During times of live concerts and shows, the cinema morphs into an intimate performing theater that often sees comedy shows and live music. In our opinion, it’s one of the coolest places to watch live music – the layout makes it feel like a lowkey underground stage, when in reality you’re actually a floor above one of the most popular restaurants in the city.
