About the Winery
50th Parallel Estate Winery sits on a gentle hillside on the east side of Okanagan Lake in beautiful Lake Country, BC. This incredible 61-acre property features panoramic lake views, rolling vineyards, an exceptional restaurant, and of course a world-class winery. The nearby public waterfront, Coral Beach got its name from the pink granite that scatters the shoreline and shares with the winery’s rocky outcrops above.
Owners Sheri-Lee Turner Krouzel and Curtis Krouzel had envisioned creating a world class winery for many years. After building a cottage on the west side of the lake and enjoying a sunset one summer evening, the couple first laid eyes on the future site of their dreams. Fast forward a few years later and the doors were open. The name “50th Parallel” as they’ll tell you when you visit, represents the location of this gorgeous property and the beauty it beholds.
The “Grand Cru” vineyards have gained an impressive reputation over the short time this winery has been open. The southwest facing wines allow for maximum sun exposure and combine with rare red sand & soil to yield the highest quality grapes possible.
Pinot Noir makes up about 35% of the production, allowing for the utmost attention and quality to go into this well known Red. Other popular wine varieties that 50th Parallel are known for are the flagship Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Gewürtzraminer, Riesling, and sparkling wine. You’ll notice that the Pinot Noir is the only Red on the list – when something is this good, it doesn’t need competition.
To compliment the winery is the popular BLOCK ONE Restaurant – an experience you surely will not want to miss. This fine dining restaurant features top quality dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, and of course pair perfectly with the wine. The name BLOCK ONE represents the first vineyard planted back in 2009. It is a reminder that as farmers, winemakers, and chefs, they must be ONE with the land. This reminder seems to work, and you’ll notice it through the impressive architecture, delicious cuisine, and excellent service.
