When you’re hiked, beached, and wine tasted – out, fruit picking should be next on your list. Nothing compares to tracing Kelowna’s culinary masterpieces back to their source. Kelowna has an abundance of “u-pick” farms where you can fill your fruit basket with crispy apples, luscious cherries and succulent peaches. 

Fair warning – you might never look at grocery store fruits the same way. These farms show why Kelowna is famed for its locally-grown produce. Kelowna’s rich soil and favourable weather make the perfect combination for producing the finest fruits possible. We’ve outlined the top fruit-picking farms in Kelowna where you can truly enjoy the fruits of your harvest.

Kuipers Family Fruit Farm

Located on Barnaby Road, this family-owned business has been operating since 1921. Kuipers’ fruit offering includes cherries in July, apricots in early August, peaches in late August and plums in mid-September. This scenic farm allows you to soak up the spectacular view of Okanagan Lake and wander the grounds of their colourful orchard. Kuipers has an entrance fee of $3 for anyone above ten years of age and charges $3.50 for each pound of fruit you pick. This orchard also provides pails, bags, and flats to carry your fruit. Mike & Lizzy’s Cherry U-Pick

Home to six varieties of succulent cherries, this local favourite is your best bet if you are looking for beautiful, large, u-pick cherries in Kelowna. This family-friendly orchard is located in the lower mission and was originally planted in 1948. This is a popular spot for families of all ages to enjoy a sunny Okanagan afternoon. The staff are always happy to provide details on the cherry varaities and how to best preserve them. When in season, this orchard typically opens from 8am to 2pm. Keep in mind, there are frequent seasonal changes and updates to their schedule, so keep an eye on their Facebook page.

Kempf Orchards

Originally planted in 1966, this family-operated u-pick cherry farm houses nine varieties of cherries. Located on Teasdale Road in East Kelowna, this well-manicured orchard has an abundance of tasty cherries, apricots and peaches. With their pruned trees, children can easily access the lower-hanging fruit, allowing them to get in on the fun. Kempf charges an entry fee of $2 per person and $1 for each box you use. These hours are subject to change based on weather and availability so we recommend confirming their current opening time on their website

Twin Oaks Organic Orchard

This family-friendly orchard prides itself in providing BC-certified organic u-pick fruits. Located close to Kuipers family fruit farm on Barnaby Road, this beautiful orchard offers delicious cherries, apricots, peaches, pears, plums and apples, along with organic homemade honey for sale. As you enter the grounds, you will be greeted by a picturesque orchard, friendly animals, and serene views. The orchard’s opening hours fluctuate depending on the amount of fruit available, so be sure to keep up with their changing schedule through their Facebook page.
