The Kettle Valley Steam Railway (KVSR) is a heritage railway located in Summerland, British Columbia, Canada. The railway operates on a portion of the former Kettle Valley Railway line, which was built between 1910 and 1915 to connect the Okanagan Valley with the southern interior of British Columbia. The KVSR offers visitors a chance to experience a piece of Canadian history and take a trip back in time on a restored steam train. The KVSR operates several steam locomotives, including a 1913 Baldwin 2-8-0 Consolidation and a 1912 Shay geared steam locomotive, both of which were built in the US. In addition to the steam trains, the railway also has a diesel-powered train and a number of restored passenger cars and freight cars.

The railway operates on the only preserved section of the historic Kettle Valley Railway through a variety of landscapes. You will be transported back in time as you ride on the restored steam locomotive No. 3716, passing through Prairie Valley. Enjoy beaitiful sights of the orchards, vineyards, grassy fields, and over the Trout Creek Bridge with a stunning view of Okanagan Lake and the deep canyon below. The sight and sound of the restored 1912 steam locomotive will bring the era to life as you ride in a vintage passenger coach. This experience is best suited for children, however can be enjoyed by anyone wanting to take a step back in time.
The KVSR also offers special events throughout the year, such as the “Sorcery Express” in October, the “Christmas Express” in December and the “Easter Eggspress” in April. There are many different experiences to choose from, each offering a fun and unique twist to your adventure.
The railway also runs a gift shop and small museum that showcases the history of the Kettle Valley Railway. Visitors can learn about the history of the railway, and see photographs and artifacts from the early days of rail travel in British Columbia.
