About Rotary Beach
Sitting in the beautiful Lower Mission just 10 minutes north of downtown Kelowna is Rotary Beach. This gorgeous waterfront park is located less than a one minute drive south of the popular Gyro Beach, and is typically much less busy. Rotary is most well known for the kitesurfing spectacles that take place during windy evenings in Kelowna, however this well maintained sandy beach features every amenity you need for a great beach day with family and friends.
Amenities
Rotary offers a large swimming area, soft sand, washrooms, and a playground. The towering shade trees are complemented by a big grassy area that many people opt for instead of setting up a sandy beach camp. Be aware of the signage on the south side of the beach – the large sand bump is dedicated for kitesurfers to launch off, and the water area on this side of the beach is for the same use. This is particularly important on windy days, whereas on calm days it’s not as much of an issue. Dogs are not permitted on the beach.
Okanagan Beach Rentals has a kiosk set up on the beach, offering watersport rentals such as pedal boats, water trikes, and kayaks. This is a great way to spend a few hours and explore the nearby shores of the surrounding area. When you get hungry, treat yourself to the onsite Surf Side California Street Food Truck, offering up a variety of delicious Mexican food and refreshing drinks.
Location & Parking
Rotary offers easy access to shops and restaurants just a short drive away. Sitting less than a kilometer away from the popular Gyro Beach, it’s a great place to end up if you don’t want to battle the crowds on a busy summer day.
There is a paid parking lot directly in front of the beach, however due to its smaller size, it tends to fill up quickly. Additional parking can be found on Barrera Road, running adjacent to the beach.
